Our Together for Good fund provides £500 a month to a charity or organisation to support initiatives that will positively impact the local area and its people.
It forms part of our commitment to enhance the lives of customers, communities and the environment beyond the delivery of clean and reliable drinking water.
This year Together for Good has helped support adults with learning difficulties, a girls’ football team, a local counselling service, a not-for-profit cricket club, and many more fantastic causes in the area, including:
The children’s charity’s Glow programme ran a range of groups for young people in Bristol impacted by mental health. These included in-person, two-hour creative groups to build resilience, improve mental health and reduce isolation in a safe environment.
The project has been praised by one of the child’s parents, who said: "It gives our son the chance to do something independently in the holidays, and to challenge himself to go to an activity alone in a safe and supportive environment.”
This community-managed project (pictured) aims to improve the quality of life for local people, working with them and other groups to provide exciting and inclusive activities, as well as a safe, free, green community space.
“Working on the farm has helped improve my social skills and given me the chance to speak with members of the community who come to visit about the farm and its animals,” said one user.
Paul Jayson, the farm’s manager, described the support as “vital for us this year,” adding: “It's helped us keep our volunteer programme running, meaning local people can get involved on the farm and build up their health and wellbeing.”
Liz Alcock, our Community Engagement Officer, said: “It’s been wonderful being able to provide vital funds to local groups so all the amazing voluntary and community work that happens across our supply area can continue and thrive.
“I’d encourage anyone who does social or environmental impact work to apply to our fund in 2024. It’s quick and easy to do and you’re in the draw all year round!”
